WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Through this training, we’ll introduce the foundational concepts of the parametric environment in Rhino (with Grasshopper and our plugin Pangolin) and explore our unique environment in Consteel, called Descript, showing how each can be applied to enhance parametric design possibilities. We’ll place equal emphasis on both software platforms to help participants see the full scope of their potential. 

Navigate the Rhino and Grasshopper interface for parametric design
Explore Consteel’s Descript environment for in-built scripting
Connect Grasshopper and Consteel through live scripting, using a simple beam example
Create a parametric transmission tower model, from wireframe geometry to Consteel model analysis
Create and investigate a hall structure with a canopy, interpreting Consteel results in Grasshopper
Compare and optimize a simple truss design in Grasshopper and Descript, focusing on section optimization

  • Consteel 18 installed. Not a user yet? Join with a 30-day Trial + 60-day free extension.
  • Rhino 8 installed. Includes Grasshopper. A 90-day trial is available.

You’ll learn to navigate the Rhino and Grasshopper interface, explore Consteel’s Descript scripting environment, and connect Grasshopper with Consteel through live scripting. The training covers parametric model analysis, design creation, and optimization, with practical examples like transmission towers, hall structures, and trusses.

This training is perfect for:

– Engineers familiar with Consteel but new to parametric design and Grasshopper.
– Grasshopper users who haven’t explored Consteel yet.
– Those new to both tools but eager to automate their work with parametric design.

You will need a computer with Windows operating system to complete the training. Participants also must have:

– Rhino 3D installed (Rhino 8, which includes Grasshopper). Rhino offers a 90-day trial period available.

– An active Consteel license with Consteel 18 installed. If you don’t have an active license yet, you can participate in our training with a 30-day Trial version with a special 60-day extension for free.

– Pangolin plugin (Pangolin 3.2). Pangolin is an Add-On for Grasshopper, you can download it for free from here. For instructions on installing Grasshopper Add-Ons, head over to the official FAQ page.

– Date: November 13, 2025
– Duration: 1 day (9:00-16:00 CET)
– Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
– Language: English

To join the training, you’ll need to:

– Register and complete payment before the application deadline (November , 2025).
– Ensure you have the required software installed (Rhino 8, Consteel 18, and Pangolin 3.2).
– Have a stable internet connection and Microsoft Teams for online access.

We provide a special 60-day extension free of charge for those participants who request a 30-day Trial version from our website.

The extra 60-day Consteel trial period will begin as soon as you request the trial version from our website.

– The video of the training will be available for 1 month from the date of the training.
– Participants will have access to example models from the training.

Live participation is required as this is an interactive course. If you’re unable to attend, we can reserve a spot for you on a future training date. For more details, please refer to our Terms of Participation.
