Halls and hangars

While designing halls or hangars is an everyday task, it can also be complex and challenging. Lateral-torsional buckling, tension-only bracings, frame corners, restraints, and considerations of sheeting are just a few examples of the exciting topics involved, not to mention structural irregularities such as jack beams making the classical design approaches difficult to apply.

No credit card required

At Consteel, we offer comprehensive solutions that empower you to navigate the intricacies of structural design with ease. Our platform provides the tools to not only analyze and understand the behavior of your structures but also to exert precise control over their performance.

With Consteel, you can learn from every project and enjoy your structural design again.

Specific Feature Solutions for Hall and hangar Structures in Consteel

Automatic generation of meteorological loads

In Consteel, extensive tools are implemented in order to assist you to define the meteorological loads required to be used for structural design by the Eurocode. Wind, snow and exceptional snow loads are automatically generated on load transfer surfaces in most of the cases defined in the code and also can be applied partially in more special situations. Modification of the generated loads and controlling the regeneration by the user is also possible.

Exact analysis of structural eccentricities

In Consteel, the structure can be modelled as it is in reality concerning eccentricities too. Deformations and internal forces caused by the eccentricities of loads, supports or connections are fully considered. No further action is needed after correct modelling to apply the effects in design calculations.

Model export possibilities

Interoperability between softwares is crucial nowadays, that is why Consteel offers several export possiblities: IFC export as the most commonly used format in the BIM world, direct export to Tekla Structures, as well as DXF export of required reinforcement area.

Seismic design by user-defined multimodal analysis

In case of classic modal analysis, it is a common problem that the mass partitipation is not high enough, because there is not a single dominant mode but 2 or 3 modes with significant contribution. In Consteel, it is possible to combine the significant modes manually and run the analysis on the loads generated from that. The generated loads can be combined in a mechanically consistent way unlike the loads combined with CQC method where the signs/directions of the loads are lost and so the results will be consistent only on cross-section level but not on member level. This consistency is of high importance in buckling analysis and connection design.

Automatic buckling design based on the ‘General Method’

General Method is the smartest way of stability design, described in EN 1993-1-1. It is applicable for any complex cases of out-of-plane buckling problems (flexural, torsional, and lateral-torsional buckling, and any interactions of these) with arbitrary members, loading and support conditions. Based on the global buckling and sensitivity analysis, it provides a comprehensive and automatic solution for stability design.

Purlin design

Purlin design is always filled with questions. Consteel provides a comprehensive solution with its special purlin design mode: consideration of the restraining effect of the sheeting, the overlaps and complete, Eurocode-conform local and distortional buckling design.
Since purlins can be modelled as integrated parts of the global structural model, the different stiffnesses of their supports (the frames) can be examined, as well as the purlins’ stabilization effect on the frames.
