Workflow features

Model import possibilities

Transferring models between different sotwares can often be a time-consuming and error-prone process, leading to inefficiencies and data inconsistencies. Because we really believe in interoperability, we provide several solutions to import models: from detailing softwares (Tekla Structures), directly from other structural analysis softwares (AXISVM), but also via using special file formats such as the Industry Foundation Class (.ifc), Structural Analysis Format (.xlsx), and our special format, exclusively developed for steel structural engineering purposes, Structural Model for Analysis and Design of Steel structures (.smadsteel)

Model creation by in-built scripting environment – Descript

As most scripting languages, Descript can be used to perform a sequence of actions unattended within a software, which can be defined beforehand, thus saving time.
Descript can be useful for parametric work, where certain parameters govern the creation or analysis of a model. Parameters in the script can be changed for different script runs in order to explore the range of possibilities, to find an optimal solution, etc..

Parametric model building in Grasshopper – Pangolin

In the dynamicly evolving landscape of structural design, Consteel’s Pangolin plugin for Grasshopper revolutionizes parametric model building, analysis and design. By seamlessly integrating Consteel’s powerful capabilities within Grasshopper’s intuitive visual programming environment, Pangolin empowers engineers to create complex structural models with unprecedented flexibility and efficiency.

API-based model building

Our flexible and intuitive SDK-based environment creates the possibility to translate the external models to a general format, SMADSTEEL (Structural Model for Analysis and Design of Steel structures) compatible with Consteel and Steelspace also, opens up a world of possibilities for customization and optimization. It is designed with interoperability in mind, allowing seamless integration with other software tools.

Cloud-based model store, access, view, and share

In a field where real-time access and seamless teamwork are essential, traditional methods often fall short. Consteel’s cloud platform, Steelspace, ensures engineers can easily store, access, view, and share models, enabling efficient collaboration and keeping projects on track.

Model history, versioning and compare

To keep projects on track, model versioning and state comparison are essential tools. Consteel’s cloud platform offers all these features, enabling seamless tracking and collaboration, ensuring that every version is accessible and every change is clear.

Model export possibilities

Interoperability between softwares is crucial nowadays, that is why Consteel offers several export possiblities: IFC export as the most commonly used format in the BIM world, direct export to Tekla Structures, as well as DXF export of required reinforcement area.

Languages

In the global landscape of engineering, language barriers can pose significant challenges. This is why Consteel offers a multilingual interface support, enabling users to work seamlessly in their preferred language.
Available languages are:
Hungarian, English, French, Romanian, German, Russian, Slovenian, Polish, Spanish, Slovak, Portugese, Serbian, Turkish, Chinese, Bulgarian, Greek, Italian, Croatian.

How can Consteel enhance your work?

Read how the world’s first solar tracker plant are built with the help of Consteel

In 2002, STI Norland built the world’s first plant with solar trackers in Navarra, Spain.

Take a look at the pioneering technologies used and developed by this company, as well as the implementation made in the Consteel software for the structural check process, which has allowed them to evaluate the high stresses to which a solar panel support structure can be subjected..

The design processes of a multi-story industrial structure using a central parametric model

Discover an in-depth case study detailing the expansion of a Turda, Romania plasterboard factory, which shows how the expansion led to the construction of nine new structures.

This project, which uses a central parametric model, won third place in this year’s The Steel Lion Award 2023 competiton, thanks to its innovative use of Consteel software for steel structural design and Pangolin, the Rhino-Grasshopper plugin for Consteel.
