advanced Design of steel industrial halls in 2d

This training focuses on advanced analysis and design methodologies for the 2D structural design of single-storey steel industrial buildings. The training is organized around the use of Consteel, but the principles can be applied to other structural design software as well.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

Training based on Eurocode 3, with references to AISC 360 and MBMA/AISC Design Guide 25

Analysis challenges: global model with warping transfer at connections, use of shearfield objects to simulate continuous restraint by connected trapezoidal decks
Design for stability in-plane: use of imperfections, notional loads, eigenforms, AISC DAM approach
Design for stability out-of-plane: use of General Method, buckling sensitivity analysis, design based on imperfections
Modelling of 3D lateral stability systems in 2D: lateral point restraint, torsional restrain, roof systems with different diaphragm stiffness
Use of Descript macro programming language: develop simple scripts to define your frames
Cold-formed purlin design: design of purlins lines considering the effect of connected sheeting

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?

This training is ideal for structural engineers seeking to specialize in the design of industrial halls, especially those focused on achieving optimal results by precisely evaluating the impact and interaction of every primary and secondary structural component.

During the training

  • No Consteel license is needed for the training.
  • The training will be demonstrated in Consteel, but no prior experience or installation is required to follow along.
  • However if you would like to try the advanced analysis and design methods and tools discussed in the training you can do it with a 30-day Trial version for free.

This training is ideal for structural engineers seeking to specialize in the design of industrial halls, especially those focused on achieving optimal results by precisely evaluating the impact and interaction of every primary and secondary structural component.

You will need a device with Microsoft Teams to attend the training. Participants may have the opportunity to perform some smaller calculations during the sessions. For these calculations, a computer with Windows 10/11 and Consteel 18 installed is required. A trial license for Consteel can be requested prior to the training.

– Date: 6 November, 2025
– Duration: 6 hours
– Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
– Language: English

To join the training, you’ll need to:

– Register before the application deadline (30 October, 2025) and complete payment.
– Have a stable internet connection and Microsoft Teams for online access.
